Amazon got some big news they announced that they have leased 4 acres of land in Mumbai’s Powai from Larsen & Toubro for a data center. The lease is for 18 years and the total rent to be paid is Rs 562 crore. The data center is expected to be operational by 2025.
The lease is seen as a vote of confidence in Mumbai’s IT and data center industry. Powai is already home to several data centers, including those of Google, Microsoft, and IBM.

Arvind Singhal, chairman of Technopunk Advisors said, “This is a major development for the IT and data center industry in Mumbai. It shows that global companies are confident in the city’s infrastructure and its ability to support their data center needs”.
